FAQs for A~flexX

Installation and Care

The industrial suction cup uses a small pump to maximize the suction power, and includes a red ring to assist in both installation and maintenance. Firmly attach the suction cup to your desired location, making sure the arm is in the proper upright position (~ 12 0’clock ). Pump the suction cup until you see the red line disappear. Once the red line is completely gone, an additional 3-6 pumps will secure the suction cup for maximum performance. The red line is a warning that the pump is beginning to lose suction. Immediately pump the unit 3-6 pumps or until the red line is no longer visible. Always check the mounting system at the beginning of the day and between patients. We recommend that you remove the pump at the end of the day to prevent it from losing suction and falling to the floor while it is not in use.

The valve and the funnels are able to be sterilized. Please note the adapter is not able to be sterilized. To disinfect the hose, arm, clips and adapter you can use the spray/wipe method. The hose is also safe to run your standard suction cleaner solution through.

The Infinity Hose is a HVE hose that is 60% lighter than the standard HVE hose. It provides less drag and more flexibility than the traditional HVE hose. Our goal in designing the infinity hose was for you to work as pain free as you can and stay healthy. The lightness of the infinity hose is also what allows our arms to hold the weight of a hose.

LVE stands for low volume evacuation or you may know it as your saliva ejector. HVE stands for high volume evacuation or high speed suction. The LVE assist arm is designed for patient comfort and operator ergonomics and to provide maximum efficiency. Using the A~flexX LVE allows the saliva ejector to be suspended in the patient’s mouth. This allows the operator to better use their indirect vision because they don’t have to hold the LVE or “fishhook” the patient with the saliva ejector. It is designed to help lessen repetitive motion disorders due to always following around the ultrasonic and constantly fighting with the saliva ejector. The A~flexX LVE assist arm is great in conjunction with the A~flexX HVE Assist Arm Kit. The A~flexX HVE Assist Arm Kit is an economical way to utilize your high-volume suction (HVE), to Reduce Aerosol Production from ultrasonic instrumentation or high-speed hand-piece instrumentation. This is an extra oral aerosol reduction product.

At this time we only offer the HVE arm as a kit. This is due to the weight of our infinity hose. It is 60% lighter than the standard HVE hose and the arm is not designed to hold that weight. We offer this kit at a great price and you have everything you need to get started with the HVE extra oral aerosol reduction when you receive it.

There are many factors that come into play when determining how long the funnels will last. To best care for the funnel and get the longest life we recommend that you sterilized them individually. We do not recommend using the ultrasonic, if needed you can spray/wipe or rinse with water prior to sterilization. The funnels are only recommended for 60cycles.

Troubleshooting

It is very important that your vacuum system can handle the use of all HVE lines running at the same time. The video on the home page is how the A~flexX HVE Assist Arm should be working. This device is designed to pull aerosol away from the operator via the dental office’s own vacuum system. If you purchase the A~flexX HVE Assist Arm Kit and it is not pulling aerosol into the funnel system as shown in our video. Then your vacuum system is not adequate for optimal aerosol control. (NOTE: If your vacuum is not strong enough to use our device it most likely will not be effective for any device except direct use of the HVE following your ultrasonic instrumentation).

There are many different styles of chairs and we have three different arms to help with this issue. If you have the standard kit we only recommend a metal, glassy smooth back chair that is flat, as this kit does not work well with any texture, material or flex to the chair. Please consider upgrading to one of our advanced kits.

Category: Troubleshooting

It is very important that the arm only be used with our infinity hose. Our arms are not designed to hold the weight of the standard hose and it will cause drifting. Make sure that the hose sits in the clips with the open part of the clip facing up. When moving the arm grab the valve and the clip to position. It is also important to make sure that the arm has not become twisted. A tip to help know if this has happened is to check the writing on the arm and make sure it is in line with the arm, not twisted around.
